Nighthawks Senior's History
. |
| |
The
Nighthawks were originally a Regional Girl’s hockey program known as the
Kittyhawks back in the 1970’s. |
|
|
. |
| During the
70’s, when girl’s playing hockey was not what it is today, teams were
separated into only two divisions, Midgets & Seniors. All ages were playing
together or against each other, especially if a program only had one team,
as was the case with the Kittyhawks. The ages ranged from 8 to 20, therefore
making this team part of the Senior Division. |
|
. |
| The league
that the Kittyhawks competed in was located in Stoneham, MA. The games were
played on Sundays between 6-9pm. In order to play in tournaments, we had to
travel all over New England. Although the Kittyhawks were not as strong as
the other teams, they improved over the years and became very competitive.
It is quite amazing to think back and see how the sport has developed and
changed. Our younger players were forced to face-off against woman twice
their size. |
